Personal Update Part 1
How is everyone today. I thought it was time to give a personal update since I have not being doing many post other then WIAW. This is mainly because I have been trying to enjoy my summer the best I can and doing that with my diet issues and trying to sane all at the same time lol. Also I have some photos to share of things that I have been doing so I thought I photo dump you guys Most will be at then end of the post in a form a slide show since there is over 50 but some I throw in between to break up the words. So basically just go to the end if you want to see pictures.
So I have been enjoying lots of time with my family. My dad and I have been going on long bike rides. We did our usual ride and stopped at the fort so we rocket ship was making its way through the five boroughs of New York. we got there a little early which is a good thing because it was packed. Everyone had the same idea. While we were waiting I took pictures of the area. It was a bit overcast that day.
We even did a 32 milers this past weekend!!! We started at the Staten Island Ferry then went all the way to the George Washington Bridge. Sorry no pictures of that I didn’t bring my camera and I was just enjoying the day. Plus it was gay pride so things were a little crazy around Manhattan. I cannot wait to do it again. I love seeing the neighborhoods change. We did a total of 32 miles. That so far is our longest and I loved it. I cannot wait to do it again. We have gotten into biking a lot!. In fact we just singed up to be Transportation Alternative members and we signed up to do the Tour de Queens! It is a 19 mile ride around Queens. I am doing it with my dad and his friend so it should be fun.
Speaking of events I also signed up to do a Warrior Dash. I am a little worried with what I signed up for after seeing the videos but I think I am up for the challenge. I am a relativity fit person so I think I will be ok. I just want to finish lol.
Besides Biking I have also been spending time with my family going to baseball games. My uncle had free tickets to the Mets vs. Orioles at Citi Field and I said who am I to turn down a free ticket even if I do not like the team. I had a great time. I had some ball park food Sausage and peppers but without the Bun (picture in the slideshow) and threw it in a salad. I was rooting for the Mets to win because the Orioles were close on my Yankees tails. Drinking home I saw a cool car. It reminded me of the Steve Urkel car! I was so excited so I knew I had to take a picture.
Then on Friday of the same week we went to citi field again lol. For Fathers day we bought Mets Yankees Tickets ( which is a very big deal in NY) and he was so excited. He has never been to one before. It was such a fun and exiting game despite it starting late because of weather and the Yankees loosing. My dad ( a met fan) loved it and had a great time so that is all that mattered. What made it really awesome though was the crowd everyone was into it. We would cant Let’s go Yankees , then right after they would say Yankees Suck and vice versa. At least both sides waited for the other to finish. We were all very polite lol. I have to say though it was strange seeing my Yankees as the away team and when something happens you hear cheers and you do not know which team it is for lol. One down side to the evening was because of the rain we did not get to see our brick in left field that we bought my dad for Christmas. Just another reason to go again. We love baseball in our family.
I have also been spending lots of time with friends. Over the last couple of months when I started to fall into old patterns I really closed off most of my friends. I am working on changing that now. I spent time with my friend Tiffany and the greatest thing was I let her lead the way. I did not plan one single thing beside a must stop for frozen yogurt (before my nutritionist told me dairy is a no no for me ) we walked all over Manhattan. We started walking to the seaport then Chinatown then up to a train that stopped at east 14th then around there then to east 31st for some coffee at my favorite shop, Oren Coffee then we went to dinner at a thai place (first time) and I had way to much food. I had the whole thing plus I had egg noddles with egg pieces in it and now I know that I am allergic to eggs so it makes sense that I got sick. It wad delicious though.
We then walked to the west village. So yes a lot of walking. lol Then we hopped on a train to the ferry and went home. I was so happy that I was able to go with the flow and not worry about anything. My therapist loved the idea of me doing that. Also I did not really worry about how much I had to eat. I was a little be upset because I made myself not feel so good. But now I know that it was a combo of both the egg allergy and having just a tad too much. Only one downside to the whole day and that was my car being broken into at the ferry parking. I have a jeep so I knew it could happen but i was still upset and shocked. There was nothing to take because I know not to leave anything. Plus I lock the glove compartment always anyway. The nice burglar made sure to close the window though and not break anything. A plus lol.
I also went out last Saturday with my Friend Inna. We went to the upper west side. I never go there. Normally I say around Rose Hill and do not go higher then Murray Hill. I am a lower east side girl lol. It was fun though. We realized the Museum of National History was right around there so we went for about 1 hour, it was closing. I need to go back. I forgot how much fun it was I haven’t been there since I was a little kid. I loved seeing the turtles! Ok they might have been turtle skeletons but still turtles and I love me some turtles in any form.
After this we went to central park and walked around then headed to dinner. We went to Cafe Blossom. Although I am no longer Vegan or Vegetarian I still love that type of food and given the chance I chose one of those restaurants over any other. I have heard good things about this place too so I was excited. My friend Inna and I split an appetizers and shared our dinner. We got different deserts though. I saw Chocolate cake on the menu and knew I must have it she wanted lemon cake and that did not appeal to me.
Inna had about 2 bites and I had the rest. It was so good. The waiter comes up to me and goes now isn’t that the most amazing tasting thing ever and I said oh my gosh yes!. I had the whole thing and enjoyed it. As I have been told you only live once! I was a little full. Next time I know. Save room for desert lol. After this we met up with my parents who were in Rose Hill (see I get it from them!) We took the train to time square and walked to where they were. That long walked helped digest a bit lol. Then we sat down had a drink, I only had half because I was just too full, Then we walked to time square because my sister wanted to see the Naked Cowboy. I hate time square too many people who do not move. I avoid it the best I can. We then had to walk back to our car which was parked in Rose Hill. I love how we can walk for ever in Manhattan you just do not feel it.
On the way back to our car my day noticed something that was way to strange
Well that is what I have been up to. Look out for part 2 this Monday. That is going to give you a personal update from the diet side
