Weekend Update…Happiness

May 21, 2012

Hey Loves :)

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I am pretty happy how mine turned out if I do say so myself. I would like to share with you my weekend.

FRIDAY

In the morning I went to take blood work. I was off today from work so I thought it would be perfect. I had a 7:30 appointment. When I got there the girl said there was no way we could do all of this in one day. My nutritionist (who is also a real doctor) ordered 14 tubes! Crazy I know. So I took half that today and I go back Wednesday for the other half. After this It was time to get ready because I had to go to Wagner college because:

My cousin Chloe graduated!! :)

I am so proud of her. She accomplished so much. She earned a GA position to study education, which means she goes to school for free!. That made her parents very happy lol. The ceremony and campus is gorgeous but oh man was it long. I am happy I bought my breakfast (overnight oats in a jar) so that had my attention for a little. The ceremony lasted 2 and a half hours. Some stuff was so not needed but I sat through it for her. After this we went home for a bit to freshen up then we headed over to Sophia’s in Brooklyn for lunch to celebrate this great day. I started with this:

An Amaretto Sour. My favorite drink

I love this drink but I was a good girl and only had 1 because this is not a good drink for a hypoglycemic person, way too much sugar. I enjoyed this though and I did not care about the calories lol. During this they brought out the hot antipasto (no picture sorry) I tried two things, egg plant rollatini  and a mozzarella stick. I knew my stomach would hate me later but it looked so good. I also had a piece of Brooklyn Bread aka the best bread on the planet. Trust me if you are ever in Brooklyn get bread, bagels and pizza. They are the best. After this we had the pasta course. I did not order a pasta because I do not eat pasta. To me it is a waste of calories. I tried my dad’s Garlic and Oil and it was great. The perfect way it should be. After this course was the salad (if you could call it that, it was a few pieces of lettuce with a lot of cheese on it that made it not so good) After this was our main dish. Since my doctor wanted me to start eating some fish I ordered the fish and since my family saw me do this it opened up a big discussion and I had to explain everything to them ( I plan on doing a post about my dietary needs very soon) My dinner:

Salmon is a wined sauce, veggies and 3 potatoes.

I ate half of the fish and I have to admit it tasted pretty good. It wasn’t as strange as I thought. It has been 10 months since I have had any fish. Also I took my sisters veggies because I wanted more of those and I gave her the potatoes I didn’t want them. After this was the cake part. This is where I rather waste my calories. I love cake, again not good for a hypoglycemic, but I love it.

This cake was so amazing. I actually devoured mine before taking a picture so I told my sister to stop so I could take a picture lol. It was vanilla cake, with a whipped frosting, and chocolate and vanilla custard. I loved every bite. I ate mine, and my sisters custard and whipped cream and my cousins huge flower. I was in sugar shock soon after lol but It was so good. I actually did not really regret eating any of this. I had some thoughts and I pushed them away. That cake was just too good to push away.

After this it was time to leave. We came home and went to the gym. It was only 7 so we though why not. When we got home I was not hungry more tired and a little sick feeling, due to the sugar. So I thought I better not eat anything. Big mistake. I wound up picking on some crackers and nut butter. Next time I am just gonna have a snack. That would have been better for me. I was starting to get mad at myself so I thought better go to bed before I get upset. I think this was the smart decision.

SATURDAY

Nothing really eventful. My stomach still felt a little strange. I woke up went to my last LSAT prep course, which makes me nervous since that means the test is soon. Then I went to the gym and went home. When I got home a present was there for me. My dad bought me a bike! It is so pretty. I was so excited. I cannot wait to go biking. My dad got me this because I was sad since it was so nice out I really would have liked to go for a long bike ride instead of the gym but I didn’t have a bike but now I do!. I spent the rest of my day reading Still missing for the PB fingers book club. This book is good but a little overwhelming. I will give my full review when I am finished. I am half way through. After this I went to bed.

SUNDAY

This day was amazing! Since I got my bike we decided to go down to the boardwalk and go biking. I went with my dad and friend Michelle. It was so nice to go for a ride. The weather was beautiful and the scenery was great. It was a nice trail with a couple of hills in there. I was still figuring out the best gears for me since this bike was new so I started off a bit slow. This trail goes all the way to the fort here in Staten Island (yes we have old forts from the revolutionary war) and you get so close to the bridge here. Also they were having some event there too. There was dancing, vendors about nature and helping the environment and of course food( Staten Island loves to eat). I didn’t buy anything but got a free chocolate and checked out a few tables and put my name down. They also had tours of the forts where you can go in a look around (No where to put the bikes so we didn’t go in) and the hummers and cost guard boats you could go in. They also had a firetruck and uniforms for people to put on and take pictures of.

Michelle took a picture of me when we got up top at the fort. I really like this picture.

Michelle and I at the top of the fort. The view was so nice so we had to take a picture. The bridge is right there lol it was so cool.

Funny Face. I actually was caught off guard with this one lol. So yes I was really just making this face lol

After this it was time to ride back so we rode back and to the other end because it was too nice to just go home. We went to the end and realized it was only 5 minutes from our home! We could have biked to that end and we didn’t even need our card. Oh well next time lol. We biked for an hour and a half. It felt so nice to be outside, enjoying the weather and being with my dad and friend. This put me in such a good mood.

After this we went home and enjoyed some lunch since we were hungry from the bike ride.

My lunch creation. I know it looks strange but it was really good. It was a little over a half a cup of Greek yogurt, 1 apple chopped, 1/2 cup of milk to get things moving, 1 teaspoon of flax grounded with a magic bullet, topped with a teaspoon of sunflower seed butter. I am in love with sunflower seed butter.

After  I pretty much just hung out with my sister catching up on celebrity apprentice (we are so behind), then dinner and the gym. I took it easy. Only 30 minutes on the elliptical for a little warm up and some weights. I think I did enough cardio for the day lol. When I got home I relaxed watched some TV read a little more and went to bed.

Now here I am ready to start my week. Refreshed and in A great mood. It is amazing how a little outside activity can really change your mood. I felt so happy. I missed this happy feeling. I have not felt it in such a long time. I am so biking a couple of times a week, even if that means getting up early to do it before work. I had that much fun. Well have a great Monday. See you all back here for WIAW :)

I love biking too – it’s awesome to just zone out in nature. I go on Sundays in the summer, but my bike is out of commission right now.

Favorite cake: not sure maybe something simple like vanilla with a great filling.

This weekend I walked A LOT. My dad is visiting me so we went to various beach sites and downtown areas and I ate all sorts of random food.

Glad you see you had a fun time with lots of little adventures. Can’t wait to get back on the bike!

I love your pictures by the way! We have similar body types and I love how you’re rocking it! :)

That’s too bad that your bike is out of commission. Hopefully you can get that fixed and enjoy the weather.

Simple vanilla with filling is always good. I know a lot of chocolate lovers will hate me for saying it but I prefer vanilla cake too.

That’s great that you walked around a lot! I feel like there is something to be said about just walking outside. I feel like sometimes I get a better workout and enjoy it so much more.

Thanks for liking the picture. We really do have similar body types! When I first thought to wear shorts I was a little nervous, I never really wear them to workout because I was self conscious but suddenly I’m like screw it and this is me so I am rocking it haha. Thanks for appreciating it, it makes me feel good to have reinsurance.
